The Avatar Pinball Machine

This is the full-size pinball machine based on the most popular film in history, James Cameron's Avatar, complete with sights and sound effects from the movie. Made by Stern Pinball, Inc., the only maker of arcade-quality pinball games in the world, the playfield re-imagines the movie's themes and iconic imagery, such as the opportunity to "transform" hero Jake Sully into his avatar by capturing the pinball in a special catching mechanism. The final "boss" of the action is the villainous Col. Quaritch, wearing the Armored Mobility Platform suit from the movie's climax. Once the player has passed a number of challenges, Quaritch appears in his AMP as a target for precision ball play, taunting players in the voice of actor Stephen Lang, who portrayed the colonel in the movie. With a twisting ramp, ample slingshots and bumpers, and a careful use of magnets under the playfield, this pinball game strikes an improved balance between skill and randomness so that less-experienced players can still trigger surprise effects and multi-ball modes.
