The desktop charging station powers the NiMh rechargeable batteries for up to three hours, and the dynamo provides approximately 15 minutes of auxiliary power after five seconds of cranking, so you will never run out of power. The GMRS radios have 22 channels with 38 privacy codes per channel, resulting in 836 possible combinations to reduce interference and ensure private conversations. A built-in digital NOAA weather band accesses all seven National Weather Service stations and three Canadian marine channels. The radios have voice operated switches (VOX) that, when turned on, detect voices and automatically transmit them without requiring the user to press a button, allowing convenient hands-free use.
