Product Story

This is the tweed patchwork cap hand-tailored from 100% wool in County Donegal, Ireland by one of the Emerald Isle's last remaining bespoke tailors. Made by Hanna Hats, renowned purveyor of fine tweed garments for over 80 years, the wool comes from Galway sheep--frequently claimed as Ireland's only native breed--raised west of the River Shannon. Originally, tweed patchwork caps were a symbol of Ireland's working class, but their charm, durability, and warmth quickly made them sought after by the aristocracy. Naturally water-repellant, the squares of tweed are hand-selected to create a unique, one-of-a-kind patchwork with a rich array of colors and textures that evoke the diverse landscape of the Donegal Highlands. The underside of the cap is lined with viscose taffeta and a snap secures the bill to the top of the cap. Imported. (3 oz.)

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
