Product Story

This is the authentic Irish hunting cap made famous by a different kind of hunter, detective Sherlock Holmes. This dual-brimmed hat, made in Donegal, Ireland, from genuine Irish tweed, is traditionally worn by outdoorsmen to protect the face and neck from the sun. Its two warm, woollen side flaps can be tied at the top when listening for quarry, or dropped down and tied beneath the jaw when the raw winds whistle off the Derryveagh Mountains. Brown. (1/2 lb.)

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
