Product Story
This is the peaked cap that recreates the classic look of a United States Army Air Force officer’s crush cap from the early 1940s. Crafted from a wool twill blend in olive drab, the cap has sloping sides reminiscent of pilots who wore aircraft headphones over the top, which over time, created the “50-mission crush” look of a seasoned veteran aviator. Made by Cockpit USA, it faithfully depicts the elements of the original: a metal officer’s badge that secures with a screw pin to the interior, a reinforced stitched leather visor and band secured by authentically molded metal buttons, and a jacquard band. Updated for modern wear, its interior front sweatband is made from microfiber while its leather headband is perforated to keep the head cool. Sizes M (head circumference 22 3/4"-23 1/2"), L (23 3/4"-24 1/2"), and XL (24 3/4"-25 1/2").

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.
- Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
- Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
- Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
