The Remote Controlled Hovercraft

Using the same physics of displaced air cushioning employed by modern passenger and military hovercraft, this remote control model moves over both land and water with equal quickness and agility. Capable of reaching a top speed of 8 miles per hour (comparable to 35 miles an hour in a full-sized passenger hovercraft), the vehicle floats on a cushion of air generated by a high-volume cylindrical blower underneath the rubber air skirt. The air cushion lifts the hovercraft, thereby eliminating friction due to ground contact and allowing the twin drive fans to propel it with high speed over smooth stone, wood, linoleum, or concrete floors, as well as water surfaces. Since it does not touch the ground, the hovercraft can instantly make precise, pinpoint turns for maneuverability not found in other remote-control toys. It has a range of 300' from its hand-held transmitter, and operates on a rechargeable 9.6-volt battery that powers the vehicle for up to 10 minutes at top speed.
