The Self-Opening Trash Can

This trash can protects you from unsanitary conditions during food preparation because it opens when its infrared sensor detects when you place your foot into its recessed sensory zone. The sensor system by simplehuman is concave to prevent accidental walk-by openings common to other models that use sensors on their lids. Five seconds after you walk away, the lid automatically closes slowly and quietly, thanks to its dampened drive system that minimizes noise. The can's hold feature allows you to keep the lid open past 90 for easy access to the basket, allowing you to change bags or scrape plates. Made of brushed stainless steel in a satin finish with a polypropylene basket, the can's space-saving design allows it to fit snugly against a wall.
