This is the practical chair that transforms into a library ladder, following a clever two-in-one design by Benjamin Franklin. According to legend, the multitasking political leader and inventor created the versatile chair so he could easily reach a book on an upper shelf. This solid-wood version replicates his construction with a concealed hinge under the comfortable seat. This allows the back of the chair to easily flip upside down, converting the seat and legs into a sturdy stepladder. When used as a ladder, it can also serve as additional shelving for plants or picture frames; when used as a chair, a shelf beneath the seat holds reading materials. Supports up to 275 lbs. Assembly required. Chestnut finish. 34" H x 20" W x 16 1/2" D. (20 lbs.)
