The Bioluminescent Dinosaur

This is the desktop aquarium filled with living single-celled plankton that glow with bioluminescent light at night. Shaped like a dinosaur—for the included dinoflagellate plankton it houses—this fellow’s blue illumination comes from a natural biological process triggered by photosynthesis that occurs during the day. If fed with the included nutrients and kept at comfortable heat and light levels for their first few days, the dinoflagellates soon give off an ethereal glow at night following just a few gentle shakes of the aquarium. They can live for up to three months on proper daytime light, though their lifespan increases indefinitely with careful additions of their nutrient-rich food (available separately from the manufacturer).
