The M43 Field Jacket

This is the jacket dutifully made to the specifications of the original Jacket, Field M-1943 worn by U.S. soldiers during World War II. Designed as the building block of the G.I. uniform, the jacket has four external pockets, favored by troops because they provided more carrying capacity. This iconic M43 is made from high-density cotton poplin--the original material used when it was first issued to soldiers in 1944. Authentic to the original, this jacket closes with buttons down the front, and the drawstring waist provides a snug fit. Enhanced for modern use, the jacket is built with a bi-swing gusset in the back--a design feature incorporated into later U.S. Army jackets--that provides expanded freedom of movement for the arms.
