The Golden Hind Model Kit

This is the kit that recreates a 1:85-scale model of Sir Francis Drake’s renowned galleon Golden Hind. One of the first ships to ever circumvent the globe during the Age of Exploration, the ship was made famous when Drake captured a Spanish galleon and its six-ton treasure of gold, silver, porcelain, coins, and jewels. The kit’s false keel, hollow hull planking, laser-cut ribs, decking, masts, and yardarms are made from quality hardwoods, its pre-cut sails from undyed linen, rigging from dyed cotton thread, and metal turnings, castings, and engravings from photo-etched brass. A swiveling vice keeps the keel secure during construction, enabling you to put the finishing touches on the vessel’s gold-painted female red deer figurehead. The instruction booklet provides detailed, step-by-step plans with clearly drawn construction illustrations. Includes all the necessary tools: clamps, knives, pliers, glue, plank bender, sander, razor saw, and six jars of paint. 25 1/4" L x 9" W x 17 3/4" H.
