Product Story

Made by the renowned Hohner instrument company founded in Germany in 1857, this is the Harponette, a single-reed harmonica that produces warm, mellifluous sound. Manufactured entirely in Trossingen, home of the original Hohner factory and the German Harmonica Museum, the Richter-type harmonica is designed in the key of C-major, providing sonorous, diatonic tones, thanks to its 20 reeds and brass reedplates. The comb is made of doussie (a species of afzelia), an African hardwood selected for its moisture absorption ability due to being in constant contact with a player's mouth and tongue. Its rich, Bordeaux-red body originates in local stands of Baden-Württemberg maple, lacquered to a high-gloss finish. Small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, it comes with an embossed, felt-lined case with magnetic enclosure. 4 3/4" L x 2" W x 1/2" H. (6 oz.)
