Product Story

Imported exclusively for Hammacher Schlemmer, this is the driving cap made made for warmth and comfort while touring Tuscany with the top down. Created by third generation Neapolitan craftsmen using genuine Harris tweed and leather accents, the flat driving cap pays homage to early motorists who dressed fashionably when heading out on the road. Not only did these low-profile hats resist wind better than homburgs and fedoras when driving with the top down, their crowns didn’t brush against the roof when the top was up. The cap’s hard-wearing, water-resistant tweed is handwoven by Scottish islanders in their cottages using pure virgin wool from Cheviot and Scottish Blackface sheep. With a satin quilt lining. Dry clean only. Sizes M-XL.

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
