Only available from Hammacher Schlemmer, this is the classic French Staunton style chess set that teaches the iconic 300 year-old opening move of The King's Gambit. The tournament-style chess pieces are handcarved from wood to replicate classic French Staunton shapes (the most widely recognized chess pieces in the world) and protected in a high-gloss lacquer (16 beige and 16 aqua blue pieces). The instruction booklet analyzes the classic opening gambit (offering a pawn) and provides a history of chess. Pieces store two suede bags, which store inside the 15 3/4" sq. x 3" H board. King 3 1/2" H.
