This is the lounge chair that uses vibroacoustics to soothe the mind and body with audible and tactile stimulation. Four transducers imbedded in the lounger produce low frequency sound vibrations (15 -150 Hz) that resonate through the mattress and into your body, relieving tense muscles and helping to alleviate stress. The intensity of the soothing vibrations adjusts with the turn of a dial, and they are coordinated with calming music that plays through the included headphones, facilitating a meditative state and encouraging optimal relaxation. A CD player and MP3 player input allow you to listen to your preferred music, and the included black-out glasses block visual distractions. Studies performed at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center showed that vibroacoustic therapy increased patients' levels of relaxation by 33% and reduced their levels of fatigue and tension by 54%. The mattress is filled with up to 9" of soft foam that conforms to your body's contours, relieving pressure points and providing therapeutic support. The headrest reclines 30º and the leg rest elevates 12" to raise your feet above your heart, a supine seating posture identified by NASA as the least stressful on the back and capable of facilitating oxygen and blood flow throughout the body.
