The extraordinary fabric of this hat goes well beyond the sun protection of other broad-brimmed hats by blocking more than 97% of the sun's cancer-causing UVA and UVB rays. The fabric itself has a UPF rating of 50+, making it ideal for gardeners, boaters, or anyone who spends significant time in the sun. (UPF is a standard rating system for the UVA/UVB protection of fabric similar to the SPF ratings of suntan lotion; 50+ is the maximum any fabric can receive.) The glare-resistant brim also keeps the hat afloat should it fall in water. Each hat is made of sturdy material (Taslan in the adult's hat, Supplex in the children's) that feels soft and smooth but is highly durable. Hats are water-resistant, quick-drying, fade-resistant, and crushable for suitcase travel. Sweatbands made of patented Coolmax fiber wick away moisture.
