During tests for impact resistance, the stemware proved to be 105% more durable than traditional wine glasses, thwarting repeated blows from a 12-gram steel ball dropped onto the rim from 3' above the glass. The stemware withstood 4,000 cycles in a commercial dishwasher without any loss of brilliance, and the stems demonstrated 98% greater resistance to torque--a common source of breakage when drying stemware by hand. Made in Parma, Italy, the crystal glasses utilize the strength of titanium and zirconium in place of the traditional lead, and they are precisely tempered to fortify the rim and stem against chipping or cracking. Not only strong, the crystal is completely light- permeable and transparent, allowing light to pass unimpeded and reflect the distinct colors of different varietals.
