The WWII Coin Collection

Commemorating the global conflict that forged "The Greatest Generation," this is the collection of genuine U.S. coins struck during WWII. Each of the 25 coins comprising the set bears the telltale wear and patina resulting from 60+ years in circulation, making each one unique. The collection includes silver coins issued during the war years (four nickels, five Mercury dimes, five Washington quarters, and five "Walking Liberty" half dollars) that contain up to .900 silver content. In addition, there are three "shell casing" pennies--the copper recycled from spent artillery--and three 1943 steel pennies (one from each mint), struck from this common metal because copper was needed for the war effort. Rounding out the set is a replica of the World War II Victory Medal awarded to U.S. military personnel and two mint vintage U.S. postage stamps honoring Franklin D. Roosevelt and General George S.
