The WWII Eisenhower Jacket

This is the jacket that pays homage to the Wool Field Jacket, M-1944 specified by General Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II. Originating from Eisenhower’s appreciation for the practical function of the British battledress as well as his feeling that the M-43 jacket worn by U.S. Army soldiers fit poorly for combat and did a poor job of presenting a “neat and snappy” appearance, the “Ike jacket” as it became known, became standard issue starting in November 1944 and lasted as a standard until 1956. Updated for modern wear, this jacket is made by Cockpit USA from 100% cotton for lightweight wear with an adjustable buckled waist belt and eschews the split collar of its formal military forebears.
