This is the genuine self-winding stock ticker invented in 1870 by Thomas Edison that became the iconic symbol of Wall Street. The model 32A ticker was Edison’s very first invention, manufactured between 1915 and 1929; of the 16,000 produced only about 250 survive to this day, most on display in private collections or museums. Not a reproduction, the ticker has been carefully restored by hand to its original condition, its base printed with “Quotations Furnished By The Western Union Telegraph Company” in gold lettering, and it includes a blank roll of authentic ticker paper along with a two-foot strip of original stock market quotations.
