A clever design inspired by an airplane’s landing gear, these are skates and street shoes all in one. The wheels simply pull out from the soles and lock into place for skating, then unlock and retract into the sole for walking — skate to the store, walk the aisles, then skate home. They make excellent training skates, too, because the soles sit only one inch off the ground versus the three to four inches of conventional in-line wheels.
As with most in-line skates there is no automatic brake; press down on heel or toe to stop, and the front wheel automatically retracts under sudden jolting pressure or jamming. Heavy-duty 304 stainless-steel wheel brackets carry urethane wheels that roll smoothly on asphalt and concrete. PVC and black suede uppers.
