This is a precise replica of an original 1923 garden telescope designed by the father of amateur astronomy, Russell W. Porter. Combining Porter’s formal education in engineering, architecture, and art, this model - one of only 20 currently existing - faithfully presents the graceful Art Noveau lines of the world’s few surviving Porter originals (one of which resides in the Smithsonian), making it ideal for luxury gardens, solaria, or formal spaces.
Requiring 400 hours of labor by craftsmen whose work has graced the homes of celebrities and heads of state, each telescope is cast in bronze and hand-finished with knurling and burnished highlights. Updated with modern optics designed by two military satellite engineers, it delivers views of the heavens with stunning clarity with a 6" primary mirror and two eye pieces (50X and 75X).
