It is not often that a pair of earrings calls rainfall to mind, yet that is just the impression Swarovski set out to create with its Lunar design. Each large crystal is shaped like a single drop of water, held for a moment before it falls.

We were taken with the cut. Swarovski’s Toupie shape gives each stone a sculpted profile, and its facets return the light whenever the wearer moves. Because the drops dangle freely, that play of color is never quite the same twice. A rhodium-plated setting frames the stones in a bright silver tone, a restrained backdrop that lets so rich a blue take the lead.

At about 1⅛ by ½ inch, they are scaled for daily wear, yet they hold their own at an evening gathering. Cool blue beside silver tone sits gracefully with a navy blazer, a white blouse or a winter coat. We suspect these will be reached for far more often than their owner first expects.
