Young artists have long been expected to confine their masterpieces to two dimensions, despite having imaginations that are perfectly capable of handling three. This 3D drawing pen gives them a chance to venture beyond the page, creating colorful shapes and structures that stand on their own. Suddenly, a drawing of a butterfly can become an actual butterfly-shaped creation, albeit one unlikely to fly away.
Instead of ink, the pen uses colorful plastic filament that warms as it passes through the tip, allowing children to draw lines and shapes that solidify as they cool. Its low-temperature operation is designed with younger users in mind, making three-dimensional art more approachable without the high heat associated with conventional 3D printing pens. Young inventors can experiment with flat designs or build upward into freestanding creations, discovering a little about geometry and engineering along the way.
The pen comes with eight filaments to get the experimentation started and is available in four colors. Whether the day’s project is a miniature sculpture, an imaginary creature, or something vaguely resembling a spaceship, the important thing is that creativity no longer has to stay flat.
