Finding hair in your comb is normal. Finding enough to make you stand at the bathroom sink for a little too long rethinking your relationship with age? That’s also pretty normal, honestly. Still, this laser comb is designed to help promote hair growth in people with hereditary hair loss, giving that familiar grooming ritual a more purposeful second use.

Its teeth part the hair so that light from 18 lasers can reach the scalp. Two wavelengths, 655 and 635 nanometers, do their work while a beep and gentle vibration cue you to move the comb to the next area every four seconds. You can concentrate on a thinning area or work across the entire scalp.

Each treatment takes eight minutes, three times a week. The rechargeable comb switches off automatically when the session is complete. It asks for consistency, but it’s probably still less time than one might spend staring vaguely into the mirror anyway.
