Settle the guitar across a lap, curl a hand around the neck, and pluck the top string. These Lexibook guitars are made of wood and strung with six nylon strings, so a beginner learns on the same string layout as a full-size acoustic, just at a size that suits a child.
Two versions are offered. The Disney Stitch guitar measures about 31 inches long and carries the mischievous blue character’s design. The Lexibook model stretches to about 36 inches and comes with a soft carrying bag that protects it on the way to lessons or a cousin’s house.
Each arrives with a pick, a strap, and a guide to learning to play. Tune the strings by ear or with a tuner of your own before the first session, since one isn’t included. Then hand it over and listen for strumming down the hall.
