Some toys hold a child’s attention for an afternoon. This tyrannosaur tends to draw the adults across the room as well. It moves with articulated joints, lights up, rumbles with sound effects, and, most memorably, puffs out smoke.
Control comes two ways. A conventional remote sends the beast wherever a young paleontologist directs, and the included gesture-control watch lets a child guide it with a motion of the hand. We find that second option especially charming, since it turns a youngster into the dinosaur’s trainer rather than its driver.
We appreciate that the drama is built in rather than left to the imagination: the light, the sound, and the smoke supply the atmosphere on their own. Two AAA batteries are required and sold separately. Expect a child to begin narrating its adventures before the box has even been put away.
