Grown-ups have been handing down their music collections for as long as there have been collections to hand down. The compact disc, it turns out, still has plenty of young fans, and this unicorn player gives them a proper stage.
Load a CD, including discs burned at home, or plug in a USB stick of MP3 files. A phone or tablet can stream over Bluetooth instead, and an aux input welcomes devices that prefer a cable. While the music plays, the case glows with shifting multicolor lights.
Connect a microphone through the built-in jack and the performance begins. Voice-changing effects add a little drama, and a record function captures the session for an encore. A carrying handle makes it easy to move from bedroom to back porch, and it runs on six C batteries, sold separately. Before long, the whole household will know the chorus by heart.
