A drip coffee maker claims a corner of the counter, a cord and a blinking clock, and it still sends you back to the kitchen for a second cup. Coffee for two shouldn’t require that much machinery.
A French press keeps the whole job simple. Add ground coffee and hot water, give it a few minutes, then push the plunger down and pour. There’s nothing to plug in. This one is ceramic with a white marble finish, so it can go straight from the counter to the breakfast table and look as though it was meant to be there.
Pour a cup for yourself, refill a guest’s, and leave the press within everyone’s reach. The second cup is a lot easier when the pot is already sitting beside you.
