A few hyacinths cut for the table have a way of making guests feel expected. These blooms take the classic hyacinth shape, covered in florets of two different blues, and they’re wonderfully fragrant.
Plant them in small clusters along a sunny border or in patio pots where people gather. At about 10 inches tall, they stay compact enough for containers, and they’re known as a fine cut flower for arrangements. Bees and butterflies are welcome visitors; deer, happily, tend to look elsewhere.
They grow in zones 3 through 8 in full to partial sun. Eight bulbs brighten a couple of pots, and the 20-bulb pack with a planting tool leaves enough to share between your garden and a friend’s porch.
