Lift him from the box and turn him toward the window. There’s the wavy green robe, the long white beard, and a wood-look cross held close, with a few woodland creatures keeping him company, every detail painted by hand.
Now find him a spot where he’ll be noticed on the way up the walk: among the ferns, beside the birdbath, or next to the bench where you take your morning coffee. His resin is UV-treated and weather-resistant, so he can stay put through sun and rain rather than retreating to the garage whenever the forecast turns. At about 10½ inches tall, he’s just as comfortable on a porch step or an indoor windowsill.
Brush off a fallen leaf now and then, and otherwise leave him be. He asks for nothing more than a good view of the garden and the occasional visitor stopping to say hello.
