For a long time, a facial mask was something spread on with fingertips, left to set, and scrubbed away at the sink. Later came thin fabric sheets, which were tidier but tended to sit on the surface rather than hug it. ATA Cosmetics now offers a mask made of patented biocellulose, and the difference is in how closely it fits.
The material is built from extremely fine fibers that hold a great deal of liquid, and it’s biodegradable. Custom slits let it follow the contours of the face, and its serum of hyaluronic acid, panthenol, soluble collagen, glycerin, and allantoin helps hydrate and condition while the mask helps keep moisture in.
The old cleanup is gone, too. After 15 to 20 minutes, peel the mask away and press any remaining serum into your skin. This set of three makes a fine introduction: a few quiet evenings of a treatment that once required a basin and a washcloth.
