The grandchildren have arrived for the weekend, the board games have each been played twice, and the afternoon still stretches out ahead. Then the box comes out, and one of them picks up a remote shaped like a wedge of cheese.
Inside are two characters with very different ambitions: a fluffy mouse and a lifelike anaconda, each steered by its own controller. One player sends the mouse scurrying while the other steers the snake in pursuit. Both creatures move, freeze, or halt on command, which leaves room for strategy as well as speed. The controllers run on separate frequencies, so both players can drive at once without crossing signals, and the easy experience level means even a first-time driver catches on quickly.
The mouse’s three button-cell batteries are included; the anaconda needs seven AAA batteries, so tuck a pack in with the gift. By suppertime the score will be settled, at least until the rematch.
